NTSC to PAL?

Hello,

I'm planning on buying an XH A1, but I want to have a PAL version. But because of the good rate of the dollar/euro it very attractive for me to buy the camera in the USA (I live in the Netherlands), those camera's are standard NTSC tho.

Before I heared only Canon facturies could change this for 500 dollars, but on this site;
http://www.tristatecamera.com/lookat.php?refid=8&sku=CANXHA1*00***
on the bottom of the page I read;
"Optional 'Canon Console Version 1.1' software and upgrade to 60i, 30F or 24F frame modes.
Canon's optional Console Image Control and Storage software allows users to remotely control the functions and settings of a camera that is crane-mounted, in studio, or in an inaccessible location. Console software Version 1.1 will be available as a free upgrade to owners of the original software while a trial version is available as a download for new users.

For those wishing to capture video for both NTSC and PAL environments, an optional frame mode upgrade is available. This adds 24F, 30F, and 60i frame modes to the XHA1."

Does any of you have experience with this, any idea if it really works, and what the program costs?

Thanks for any replies in advantage!

Greetings,

OK for a start you dont need the canon console software. Just get the camera converted so it has PAL frame modes added. Then you can select them from the camera menus.

That sounds easy ;) So how would that work, connect with the pc and upgrade the software? Or is it a tad more difficult?

I really can't find much about it...

You have to get it done through your canon service centre. And its basically 500 USD

Go and see Christine of ZGC. She did this all for me and ZGC is also near to Canon saves the trouble of shipping to and from.

This is a firm ware upgrade that can only be done with Canon , and ZGC will arrange for it to be send to canon .

Ok, sounds promising! I have to call for the price tho, what did you pay for it?
And do you know if they ship to Europe?

Thnx in advance,
Carlo Zijlstra

Yes they do ship to europe too. But you have to pay the import taxes. I got mine send to N.Y and I pick it up there. It was worth it for me to go there for a short holiday then to have it shipped to Germany because of taxes. I bought it and send it to a friend that is staying in N.Y, so the I could also claim back the rebate. The rebate only applies to U.S residence

You can email Christine at
