I asked this question in the audio forum and had no answers yet. However, it's also relevant to the XHA1 forum so here goes.
I've seen a number of posts talking about the comparison between the two Rode microphones, NTG-1 and NTG-2 which concentrate one having a battery compartment.
However, after looking at the spec sheets for both microphones I see that the impedances seem quite different. The NTG-1 is 50ohms and the NTG-2 is 250ohms (p48) and 350ohms (battery). If I want to use this with my Canon XHA1 which has an input impedance of 600ohms which one should I go for? Will one respond better or be noticeable louder than the other or will there really be no difference? I've read a lot about the theory of impedance matching but does it make a difference in practice?
Thanks in advance,
Steve
