November 1st complete specs rumor

I had another person email me this morning asking about Red announcing complete specs on November 1st, the day after reservations close. This is false.

This is a bad Rumor, and im not sure where it originated from. Red is not announcing specs on November 1st... sorry to break the news :(

Some people are upset cause they think its some sort of hook and bait tactic, and are mad because they want to know the specs now and don't understand why they would hold it off a day after reservations close.

Feel it this way: The latest the specs are locked down, the longest the guys worked on the camerea and workflow:)

All I heard is that the final specs will come at the end of the year, just at the time they lauch 20 camera in the wild for testing... (I might be wrong :-)

:dankk2: for your care Jarred. dvxuser.com is the RED user corner and this sort of rumors are useless but should be clear up front. As RED customers, this is also our project.

I think it was this post from the thread "Full Update", but it's been a while since there has been a major info or media update so some people (myself included) remembered Nov. 1 as being significant, but not exactly why.

You can expect a fairly comprehensive and easy to understand explanation of REDCODE RAW and REDCINE beginning November 1st. You can also expect to see prototypes that most closely approximate the final camera and RAIL/CAGE program at that time. Specs for the 18-85mm zoom will also be posted at that time, including MTF charts. The same goes for the 300mm.
Of course, he did say "beginning" Nov. 1. Anyway, I don't think it's a baiting tactic at all. Pre-order people will have an advantage and can cancel any time. He has stated many times that you can either take that small leap of faith or wait for something concrete. No harm in choosing either path, or no path at all.

I think "Beginning" is the operative word in Jim's post. Once the reservations are locked down info will begin leaking out steadily about the camera and redcode etc. I've always understood final spec to be December myself, and given the idea was to create a few prototypes I dare say even that final spec might change slightly before production of the reserved cameras begins.

My fault... we are a bit behind in details. It might take a week or so longer than expected for specs. BUT... we did post an outside shot! Does that ease the pain?

Jim

Personally, I am enraged, that you guys could be so disengenous to let us in on development, post renderings, footage, specs and actually ask for input! The very thought that I might actually have an opportunity to own a system of this magnitude instead of occasional rentals... and then to be put upon to actually have to wait another week or so for specs...

Although we are all eager, this camera will ease pain for some and cause pain for others... I can wait a little.

Thanks for the hard work gentleman.

Jim for my part (RED#336) I am very impressed with all the communication effort you have done and the answears you have given on forums (like here), and I won't mind small delay on the locked down spec.

But is it true, that you are going to test 20 RED I, out in the wild before the production begin? And if yes are you planning on adjustment on the camera after the testing, as Brooke has mentionned it?

I thought I might be able to lure you out to give us some kind of heads up. ;-) Take as long as you need... and yes, the outside shot more than makes up for it in my book!
