Notes From My First D90 Shoot

that trick is not something you *have* to do, you can lock the exposure at any time no problem. the trick is just used to lower the noise (i haven's seen the benefit really. i get the exact same result by aiming at a brighter area before i lock, or by using the +/- before i lock (sadly it has no effect afterwards)).

...

I see no difference too. The results are the same, whether Ae-Lock before LV or after...

Great footage chris_f and thanks for spending the time to write all the tips.

I may be showing my n00bness here, but what's the point in going through tho whole streamclip process? My current workflow has been:

Creating a new Final Cut Pro document.
Setting the Sequence at HDTV 720p, square pixels, 24fps.
Importing raw d90 footage.
Editing my video and exporting at DVCPRO HD - 720p24 for archiving.

Thanks,

Mauvis

This question has been asked 10 times the last week. :-) the benefit is performance and compatibility. Prores and aic are faster and work in more versions of fcp.

Yep, once you go through that process you will no longer need to render inside your timeline and editing is much smoother.
