wtf!? im not sure i believe that.

just something i never got around to. I'm very aware of his films though.

Roman, i agree with all the lighting comments. it was a learning experience for me- I noticed lots of inconsistencies while i was editing. thanks for your kind words.

thanks John. You once commented before on another short i did a while back with the same male lead - he makes it happen for me - talented guy.

i like the composition of the door latch scene.

looks really dark though. i like the grain and the light coming through the windows, but it's still too dark.

man man man. i completely sense their awkwardness. it really comes through. really good acting here. very simple, clever lines. the way she feels like apologizing all the way through her stay. and he is still in love with her.

and when he replies "yeah" to his current girlfriend? that is a perfect ending.

what settings did you shoot this in? it doesn't feel like 24fps.

nice story man!!!! good writing. a little more work on the technical skills would make this one of the top three shorts in my opinion.

I totally dig the lighting in the table scene. Very nice backgrounds and sidelight. I also never felt like turning this one off. Both actors offer great performances and I enjoyed the quality of their voices (you've got decent sound on this picture, it's great!). And I like the end, I like how you established the guy's current relationship instantly, and then ended the piece. I continued to think about it afterwards, the current relationship kind of imagining itself based on the springboard the film becomes. I do think you could have used more light at the end.

I felt a sadness for Eric. But I just didn't see a story here...it was just a slice of life, a look a moment in time. I know that the handheld thing is in vogue, but I'm sorry, it just distracted from otherwise nice shots. There was not motivation for going hand held. It would have served the piece better to go with a dolly or stablized shot. I thought the lighting in the kitchen could have been a little more creative in order to really bring out the emotions being shared by these two people.

I thought your pacing was good but unfortunately it didn't really lead me anywhere. I really wanted to like this more. I did like it for what it was but just felt you let slip a lot of possibilities.

I hear you, but that's why I commented it felt like a Hemmingway story. It was a slice of life, but the performances really drew me in and made me want to spend that little bit of time with those people.

It's very much the reason i love Almodoar films. Very often, the story is meandering and seems to drift, or settle down for a song or something. But he's so masterful at creating characters that you want to spend time with, that his films kind of elevate above structural elements for me.

Anyway, I felt like this one did the same, so avoided a story criticism from me.

it wasn't distracting. i thought the moview have been good either way.

You have a very simple story, which works great for a short and I found it engaging all the way through. The composition/lighting/camera work really well and support the type of story we're a part of. I like how we're always close to the characters, right next to them or over their shoulder. The acting/directing is also very good and believable. As long as that conversation was, I was engaged the entire time and didn't once find my mind wandering. I also appreciate the ambiguous ending. When things are open to interpretation, it gives me something to think about after the film is over.

I thought the acting was brilliant in this, and the delivery was great. I sometimes thought the scenes were a bit too dark, but thought the 'yeah' reply just sooo matched the look on his face.
Thank you.

Nice colors and the lighting was pretty good, if cinema verite a wee bit.

This appeared to be a personal project to you – something you needed to say. For a drama, I didn’t get the conflict or theme, but the mood you set was a watchable one. Thanks for sharing.

Everything about this short felt so natural to me. The way the two characters interacted with each other was so smooth. I liked the coloring but felt it was a bit dark. It made me wish I could watch the rest of the movie this little bit belonged to. Great work. Keep it up. Maybe I will get to see the rest someday.

Yeah it was dark, but the acting great and i really got sucked into the story in no time. Just so natural!! Great job.

I have taken a firsto look at this short. On the visual side, i like it very much (as i already said from the grabs); but i must watch it again to uderstand better the story. Good acting, imho.

I liked the dark scenes; the light sculpturing the faces was really beautiful, and overall, everything looked very natural, very real, which I think was important here. Great acting, and a good, thought-provoking story. Definitely one of the top 5!

So far this is the most realistic, natural, slice of life film in the fest. So many other entries have been caught up in the over-the-top hollywood idea of what drama and realism are. This was truely believable and very subtle. The drama isn't in false emotions and crying and hightened situations with yelling and screaming, it's in the idea of what these two characters' history is, in the deep, but somewhat hidden sadness and longing. It's very Cassavetean in it's portrayal of people and real life situations, which is probably why I love it. I also love the look of it; it really has that early morning feeling. It has good, interesting cinematography, and solid performances as well. There's a lot of other films that seem sort of like vignettes, and this is the only one that really works for me. The mood of the film is really great, it's like another character. Overall a great film.

Great work dvpixel! I was totally into the story. I think somebody said it, but it had the feeling of a short story (which I love). There were a few moments when the acting felt a hair off, but other than that... everything worked great.

in my top 3 for sure. Good stuff.

Thanks Ullanta for your comments.

considering that none of them are actors by any means, this is a compliment. The rest of the nicer comments are a shocker.

I have to admit, the editing hides alot of things and also pushes for emotions that were never there in the take... but I guess that's what editing is all about.

thank you.
