For NBC, we use Neutral with the following settings:
Sharpness: +2
Contrast: all the way down
Saturation: -2
Color tone: 0
We've tried many different combinations and several downloadable profiles, but this is the setting that has been decided as best for our broadcast workflow from the network. We have not tried the Canon X profile, though, and I'm keen to give that one a shot.
Vision is pretty good. Cine X was interesting, but I didn't like it, though I would still give it a chance. I've noticed every camera inspires a different picture style for me. The Txi's and the 5D's look very different, and the 1D-C again is very different, but Neutral is the most representative of the 'Canon Look', just because of the prevalent use. And so it ends up looking right, and fits into most peoples workflows, as we are all familiar with the characteristics.
Vision and other styles that go for the aesthetic look, with blues becoming cyan and reds and yellows pushed towards skin tone, can sometimes send the wrong message. Not everything has to look like a movie, or a branded ad campaign.
