Noob question - auto settings?

When filming with a Canon DSLR, do you guys usually use some kind of auto settings for exposure like ISO, aperture, shutter speed etc, or do you guys usually put it completely in manual mode and set all of these yourself?

Fully manual. It's better manual anyway - don't want things changing while you shoot a scene.

don't want things being set at arbitrary values, no matter how inteligent the camera is

I agree with posts about using all manual, however, there was a scenario where I used auto ISO.
Since the old manual nikon lens i used on the canon doesn't have that smooth iris ring of "traditional video camera" and I was
panning from an open balcony into the room interior the auto iso gave a smooth exposure transition to the shot.

Other than this scenario of uncontrolled lighting scenes of varying illumination, I'm mostly all manual.
