I believe Henri Cartier Bresson started that trend, taping up his many Leicas back in the day, perhaps for different reasons though. I like it because it reminds us that the camera is a tool first, and a piece of status jewellery last.

Totally second on that. Why do they have to put their logos up front anyway? They all do it, its a disease. Imagine a Mercedes having it written all over his engine hood. If you need to, put a lil icon on the side.

Agreed. Actually, on a quality product the kudos is in the discretion of the slogans. It's considerably classier to have a Leica and cover up the logo, and to actually be one of the most ingenious photographers of all time. Bling is so crass and vulgar.
 
Paralion, Mercedes is the worst for doing that. They put their logo on everything you can imagine inside the car atleast. It's on everything.....

your right, bad comparison. and to make that clear, i am not into mercedes at all. same thing: car should get me from a to b. ;)
