noisy capture on pc..

hi there
sort of seem like noob question but after searching online I couldn't really find an anwer I was looking for..

okay so my issue is that, I captured footages from DVX on windows with movie maker (DV-AVI quality.. no compression) and when I watch it or run it on Vegas, its really noisy (image wise... not sound wise).

so I capture same footage on FC with my macbook pro.. its alot cleaner quality. (I shot it in low light situation with little bit of gain up so noise is somewhat expected)

is this my PC monitor setting?? or what's the deal here.. i can't seem to figure it out.

i'm guessing it be either software problem with video viewers on PC.. (perhaps some codec???... but i doubt its codec issue) or hardware issue with my monitor. (my calibration is little bit off.. shows things bit brighter than usual but still i don't think it should show that much noise, although it might be bit more visible than properly calibrated set up)

this is my main problem I would like to solve..
just to add a little bit more, friend of mine purchased D90 recently and got to test it out a bit.. and wow...
on Windows.. it looks like crap but on Mac it looks just like how it should look

perhaps there some kinda connection here..

anyways any kind of help will be much appreciated!

thank you.

Why are you using Movie Maker?
Can't you capture video directly from Sony Vegas? I am using Vegas Capture feature and it is working fine with my DVX100BE :)

ya I second the " why are you using moviemaker " question. I am thinking movie maker captures the footage compressed so it's easier to work with, which is going to result in noisier footage.

i'm still new to video so I've been using movie maker until I read more on FCP and Premier, just got a book on FCP recently. When I captured through movie maker I chose DV-AVI option so there shouldn't be any compression.

oh yea I also captured same footage on Vegas too and still pretty noisy..

what platform are you guys using? mac or pc?
I think im'm starting to see why people prefer MAC over PC...
