C100: Noise pattern on C100?

Is that "vertical line noise" also visible in external recording or only in AVCHD? I'm doing ABB frequently (it's suggested to do it after every ISO or ambient temperature change) and didn't notice this kind of noise. Bigger problem for me is that mosquito/boiling noise in Canon Log recording to AVCHD.

I get it too on AVCHD. I've never seen it in reviews but sometimes in a nearly pitch black room when boosting ISO to over 10,000 it becomes apparent. Not that I frequently shoot in that ISO but it's definitely there. It really kind of messes up the mixed pattern noise.

darren,

most of your videos are locked down on a tripod. the noise pattern really becomes noticable when the camera pans over a dark area (hand held or on a tripod). point your camera at a black t-shirt and slowly move it back and forth - with my camera (and other cameras too, it seems) you can clearly see a pattern of vertical banding that stays stationary as the black fabric moves across the screen.

this only affects the shadows and anything above middle grey looks incredible. but that noise pattern is definitely there.

i actually returned my first c100 for an exchange as both me and my sales rep saw the issue and thought it was a defective camera. new camera does the same thing though... would love to know if others are still seeing this.

k

p.s. i have samples that clearly show the issue - if anyone wants to see them i'll upload them.

Sure, upload them. I would like to see what you are talking about. Make sure you include your iso setting. Hopefully you aren't shooting in a pitch black room.
