Noise in 550D video

I have been experiencing some noise in my 550D video, in average to low light situations.
I run the camera in ALL MANUAL settings with highlight tone priority, Peripheral illumination correct, and Auto Lighting Optimizer all disabled.

I just posted a clip online using 3 different lenses to show my point.
If you look closely at the clip, especially on the Tamron lens sample at 400/800 ISO, take a look at the frame with the black (darker) border on it on the far right, and notice the color noise that I'm experiencing.

There was no color work done to any of the clips, and the noise is more noticeable at full frame 1920 x 1080 30P footage.

As it gets scaled down, the noise is less and less, so at 720P it's noticeable, and at SD it's practically gone. Also, some of the recompression has taken some of the grain out as well.

My concern is at HD not SD though.

Any ideas or suggestions anyone.

Thanks,
Michael

if you're gonna do the unlit/natural lighting thing you're gonna have noise. don't shoot above ISO 200. heck, you probably shouldn't go above 100.

Hi there i have noticed noise in 550D too specially in high iso settings, you can use Neatvideo and it will get rid of most of the noise without degrading your video

Make sure you check out the thread with some downloadable user photoimage settings.

Most who shoot video (my friend included) swear by super flat, personally I like a toned down neutral or just regular flat (among others). The default few settings will produce a lot more noticeable noise.

Also like a few have said already do your best to stay at ISA 200 or 100. I know it can be inconvenient at times and if you need to go above that its your call obviously. Some times you just have to go higher depending on what your shooting but by and large most of the videos shot with these cameras will be on a lower ISO setting with the camera married to a tripod at all times or rested on a level surface.

Oh and yes you can use a few different video options to remove some grain to. But your best bet is to do all you can BEFORE post to eliminate or reduce it as much as possible.
