Noise DVX100 original/DVX100B

i've read that the original dvx100 is less noisy than the dvx100a. and the dvx100B is less noisy than the dvx100a. but what about the dvx100B in comparison with the original dvx100? does the dvx100B have more/less or same noise amount than the dvx100? and is it the same kind of noise?

If the 100A is more noisy than the 100, I don't even want to see a comparison... My good old 100 is noisy as hell.

BTW, it would be interesting if Barry or someone could confirm that the A is more noisy.

yeah, Barry needs to chime in right here. Personally, I've never really had big noise problems with my 100A. But some specs would be cool.

It's been a little while; I'd have to get them side-by-side to go through the comparisons again. I sold my 100 after getting a 100B, so I don't have access to it anymore.

IIRC, overall noise levels were basically the same. The 100A added the new CINELIKE-D gamma curve, and that's the noisiest of the gammas. I think that may be why people think the 100A is noisier, but it's not a fair comparison because the 100 doesn't have CINE-D. You'd have to compare a 100A in CINELIKE against a 100 in CINELIKE to get a fair comparison.

The 100B is lower in noise than the 100A though.

The 100a is definetly noisier than the 100, in all gammas. I think its a different dsp from the original 100- chipset I don't know, I heard it was a different chipset from the original dvx. As for the B, I can't speak about. Maybe this problem is not that noticeable in the NTSC dvx's due to lower resolution, but in Pal, the difference is really noticeable.
