My fan is set to automatic. I've never noticed it turn on. I'm in hot Florida. Then again, it's generally hot when I'm outside, and when outside there's often other ambient noises which may keep me from hearing it if it were on. But I've still yet to actually notice it turn on.
If you're filming in a quiet environment like for an interview, you could always turn it off during the interview; I doubt it would hurt it as long as it isn't overheating for a prolonged period of time.
When I set Fan setting:ON, that's really loud.
The noise I'm hearing is really subtle. When I turn on Camera, immediately I start hearing kind of "Zzzz...z..zzz" like static noise from the exhaust vent.
I have researched about this lots sites, I couldn't find it anywhere.
I just wanted to make sure if this is normal or I should send the camera to repair..
Thanks chsiung. It solved the problem.
I didn't know IS lens makes so much noise. I've used EF-S 18~135mm IS lens, and never notice noise.
But this 24~105mm f/4 IS is kind loud. It's really good to know.
