no sound in certain scene file settings?

I went to shoot a short film the other day, with my shotgun mic plugged in line 2 and phantom power switched on. I switched my HVX to F5 scene file and there was absolutely no sound.

Has anyone had a similar problem? did I change a setting or something.

The sound worked fine in F1, 2, 3, 4. So I ended up shooting in F1 but I was pissed. Still can't figure out why it won't work in that scene file...
 
The only way you get no sound is if you shoot in 720pN mode at a variable-speed frame rate. You might have had your frame rate set to something other than "default" and that would cause the issue.
 
thanks for the replies, I'm not sure what caused it, but when I went to shoot a day later everything worked fine. I think perhaps Barry is right that my frame rate was in conflict.
 
It is what Barry said - leave the framerate in 'default' not '24'. Sound is only recorded in 'default mode'.

Another poster a while back said his DP shot everything in '26' or '28'. It was a huge nightmare for him in the edit suite.
