GH5 No Playback on SmallHD AC7 monitor from GH5

Does anyone have a smallHD AC7 monitor that can playback footage from their GH5?
When going into playback mode The AC7 monitor receives no signal and goes into a blue screen mode, the GH5 says playback in progress with nothing on the screen

Set the GH5 HDMI output to 1080p resolution, and that should fix it. If not, try recording in 24p instead of 60p.

Thanks Ron, but it does not work in auto either. I have even tried a second AC7 monitor with a second GH5 and I can not get playback form the GH5 onto the SmallHD AC7 monitor.
Same thing happens, AC7 goes into no signal present blue screen mode.

How have you set up both the HDMI record output and the TV output for HDMI. Under the movie menu I have HDMI info display OFF and Down convert auto. Under the wrench menu I have TV Connection HDMI output set for auto too.

Ron, Are you saying that you have a SmallHD AC7 and can get playback out of the GH5 onto the AC7 monitor?

No I do not have a SmallHD but do have a Blackmagic Video Assist and had the same issues to get it working. For instance I could see on GH5 lcd and VA in standby but when I pressed record lost the lcd on the GH5 etc. Those settings made it work for me for monitoring and playback. I normally record UHD 60P 8 bit internally and use the VA for monitoring.

Does thr AC7 even accept a 1080p60 signal? Most older monitors like this were capped a 108030p frame rate.
Cheers

Denny16 - I'm not shooting at 1080 60p, Shooting at 4K,24p. The monitor displays the Live view image from the camera with no problem. It's only when you may want to check what
you have recorded and go into playback mode that the monitor no longer displays an image.

OK, understand now, I missed that bit. I would think in camera p,ayback would be Smet out the HDMI also. Have yiu tried connecting the camers to a TV monitor and see if it will p,ay back there? This will also show the playback resolution setting the camers is outputting. Just a thought.

I found this, Playing Back GH5 on a TV Screen.
Preparation:
Set [HDMI Mode (Play)] to [AUTO] or a setting with a resolution of [4K] (if the size is set to [4K]) or [C4K] (if the size is set to [C4K]).
When [System Frequency] is set to [59.94Hz (NTSC)], set [HDMI Mode (Play)] to [AUTO] to play back motion pictures recorded at a frame rate of 24p.
For settings other than [AUTO], it cannot output at 24 frames/second.
When connecting to a TV that does not support 4K motion picture, select [AUTO].

Cheers

Ok - Problem Solved!
Very Strange, but here is what the trouble was...
For some strange reason when evoking the playback mode on the GH5 the SmallHD AC7 monitor was being kicked out of the HDMI input mode and put into SDI input. My AC7 has no SDI input, but because this monitor was available in and SDI as well as HDMI version the same software was being used for both models, so even though there was no SDI input available there was a selection of SDI in the software as we'll as a component input mode. The act of switching the GH5 into the discreet playback mode must have sent a kind of rogue signal to the AC7 causing it jump to the next input mode in the software. All that needed to be done was to go back into the menu System of the AC7 and switch it back into HDMI input mode after the GH5 was in playback mode. BTW... even SmallHD had no idea about this and offered virtually no help in trying to resolve this issue. Thanks to everyone who offered their suggestions!

Glad everything worked out for you. Cameras and their accessories are now very complicated pieces of kit and have ample opportunity to not work !!!
