No Olympics in Chicago.

I'm glad. Chicago (no offense to anyone there) is a terrible choice. Why not have it in Detroit or Memphis (again, no offense). I hailed from Memphis for 2 years, as as one of the most dangerous cities in the United States, it makes no sense to bring thousands upon thousands of people there.

The only problem I see with Rio is also the security of all the attendants....anyway, I don't relly mind where they are held, what I like about the olympic games is all the audiovisual technologies and innovations that are used to broadcast them...and I also love the ceremonies and the fireworks hahaha...good luck everyone.

Olympic compounds are usually pretty insulated. So, while security has to be considered, infrastructure is more of a concern with me for Rio.

I'd go with Rio...Madrid has its share of problems with terrorist bombings. As someone from Chicago I would have liked to have seen it there too.

Not really that's and insulated problem (you won't see more than one bombing per year if it ever is, im sure that more people die from gun shoots..) that is only caused by politics and usually if something happens its in the basque country and I hope that this conflict, like happened in ireland, gets solved by the 2016(if the world survives to get to that date hahahah).

Anyway, I'm sure That rio will do it's best!

Uh, dude, Rio has one of the highest crime rates in the world. It's murder rate is something like 3x the national average in the US and it's by far the most crime-ridden city in the running for the games.

Our Olympics are so over budget it's ridiculous. Original cost was to be close to 1.5B....I think were some where near 6B now.

Such a joke and complete waste of money.

I'm with Hawk on this one. Our city cried broke for years then suddenly all this $$$ came out of nowhere to pay for the olympic bid.

King Richard wanted to somehow secure his legacy as mayor or something by bringing the games here.

I'm glad Rio won out.

It's always nice to be the host nation, but we have done it a bunch. I know that the IOC has to be realistic about what venues can really handle it, but if they were convinced Rio is up for it, then it's great to have it in a country (and continent) that's never hosted before.

I'm not saying I'm voting for Rio in this, but I'm definitely voting against Chicago.

i'm glad rio won. sure it would have been cool to have the olympics in america, but i like experiencing the culture of other parts of the world. rio's opening ceremony will probably be a lot more interesting than watching a fat guy in a bears jersey eating a deep dish pizza.

Hey, Chicago would have represented! There would have been a whole parade of fat guys in bears jerseys eating deep dish pizzas!

Synchronized!

It's Carnivale!!!

Having worked on the broadcasts of Sydney and Athens, I'm really glad it's gone to Rio. Bit of colour and excitement.
