No Doubt Wedding Video Clip with Violence

I get sound but a blank screen. Anyone know why? I have qt 7. Do I need pro or something?

After Effects and/or Motion.. it's not hard to create the effects (esp. timing things out to the music beat), but doing the work and coming up w/ the creativity to put the thing together in the first place deserves props.

Sorenson 3 and Mp3. I'd say as long as you have version 6 you should be fine, but 7 couldn't hurt.

What the... You are a genius. I looked at some of your other stuff. I've never heard of that degree of commitment going into this type of video at that rate. Thanks, i'm inspired!

 MAN THAT WAS GREAT! I loved the effects. You don't see wedding videos like that everyday!

First of all...sick video man! I'm just starting out with weddings and I can only hope to eventually bring that creativity to the table. How or where did you get those film reel effects? and where did you get that film/melting effect or clip?

k.. this was great. entertaining enough to watch the whole thing.. and usually i cant stomach wedding videos. great jhob on this.. good editing and effects.

I'm serious, this is the best wedding movie I ever see. The image is sharp, color brillant, the editing is pretty well done. I really like the film transition. You choose the song to make to propulse this video. Seriously, pretty nice job!

This wedding party looks pretty fun to shot and to edit :)

Wow! I was not expecting this.

Thanks to each and every one of you that took time out to view the clip and leave comments. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

To answer some of the effects questions, I used a camera plugin in After Effects to make those "photographer viewfinder" effects. The filmstrip effect transitions were just jumpbacks and transparency. Magic Bullet Suite with the Miami look was used to take the video edge off. Everything else was done with standard transitions in my NLE, oldschool ghetto-ass Premiere 6.5

As far as getting the couple to do what they did, I didn't really do much. There was no planning or pre-concieved ideas of what was going to happen. What you see is who they are. Much of what you saw was their own idea. Occasionally, I gave them some loose direction but in the end they did their own thing. Just think about how you are when you are surrounded by a group of close friends. It's comfortable and crazy all at the same time. In fact, this bridal party, minus the bride and groom, was not very cooperative to work with.

I chose to shoot in 60i versus 24p only because I knew if I shot progressive, I'd have to migrate to another NLE and was not comfortable with that idea. I had a tried and tested workflow shooting 60i then doing the mock conversion in Magic Bullet and I didn't want to mess with it. However, I spent the entire next day shooting wildlife and scenery in 24p. As far as smooth slowmo went, it wasn't a factor as I didn't even have a thought of how I was going to edit this.

The dust on the lens shot was left in intentionally. I didn't like it at first but then I weighed what was going on in that shot versus leaving it out. Besides, in wedding videography we spend a lot of time and effort to make some shots grainy, flickering, slanted, shakey, stuttery, grimey, stained, scratchy and dull. A dusty lens shot fits right in.

This is just a small piece of the total package. The whole video is not like this. It's just one small section to put between the wedding ceremony and reception. In the end, everything is covered and nothing gets left out.

I would have posted some clips before but most of my prior stuff was shot with a Sony VX2000. However, I'll be sure to post any new DVX clips.

Thanks again guys!

I was really impressed by the photography. the editing was good, but not my style - a little over the top for my tastes. to me, it was a disorienting seizure-fest. but I am sure that the newlyweds were happy with it. and as another poster said, it was high energy all the way through. I also liked how it culminated with those kids fighting at the end. looked like fun. good job.

HEy man im pretty sure you can use Premiere for 24p stuff. It cuts just like regular old 60i. Ive used Imovie for 24p footage. it really doesnt matter what nle you use. dont be afraid to go 24p!

Man-

I just signed onto this site so I could download your video to show my friends how good it was but the link is gone! :o( Any chance you can repost it???

Some of you crazy people keep bumping this thread back and sending me daily PM's. All this for a wedding video?

With all the amazing production work on this site, do you know how intimidating it is to post a wedding video clip on this forum? It truly is an honor to be able to post a clip here alongside you all and get this type of response.

So here it is once again, reencoded with the H264 codec, so if it won't play for you, you need to install Quicktime 7.

Once again, please feel free to leave any comments or questions.

Just in case anyone is interested, there may be an upcoming DVD release compiled of other wedding clips in this style. It will also contain tips and techniques on how these clips were made. You can send me a PM if you would like more info.

Thanks again, guys!
