Just trying to think out of the box here...
Could you not do the following:
1.) Insert the P2 card with new footage and import the clips through Avid's media tool to a bin. You then will have created a Bin reference.
2.) Close the Avid and move the files from the P2 card to your computer hard drive \Avid media files .mxf folder (keeping related audio and video from the P2 card to the same drive hard drive\folder)
3.) Remove the P2 card and launch your Avid project.
The media data base should rebuild itself and link to the files you transferred.
I'd be very surprised if this didn't work, as I do this successfully and often when I digitize footage in .mxf on my second Avid system and transfer it across the network to my main edit station.
