I wanted to get an external recorder for my c100 mkii but neither of the above mentioned devices record progressive 60p. Is there a work around it or that's just the way it is? If so, it's a big let down and I probably won't buy the external recorder. Share your wealth of knowledge dvxusers.

The PIX-E5H from Sound Devices, the Odyssey 7 series from Convergent Design, and the BlackMagic Video Assist all record 1080/60p.

Wait, I don't get it. Fahnon, are you saying that with the Atomas 7" recorders I can get 120fps in HD out of my C100? Wouldn't this resolve all the slo-mo (lack of) issues with this camera? I went on their site and it just seems to good to be true.

Oops. Just checked the site again. With the 7-inchers, the Shogun and the Ninja Assassin, it appears the limit for the C100 is 1080p30. You really got my juices flowing there!

If the camera can't output more than 60p, than your stuck on 60p (max) no matter what recorder you use.

Of course it's not true. Pass-through can go up to 120 but that's got nothing to do with processing ability. The camera tops at 59.94 and the Assassin @ 30.

Edit: Never mind...thought we were talking about the mk1 and not the new one. Ignore the following...

If I'm not mistaken, doesn't the C100 output a max of 1080 60i ? not 60p? I don't think that being able to record 60p is going to do you much good if you're just getting 60 interlaced which is realistically just 30fps. The slo mo trick with the C100 mkI has always been possible because we were splitting the fields into frames so we were making 60 half res frames from the 30 interlaced frames (60 fields). Not because we were getting 60 full frames. Most people can't tell that the slow motion came from fields instead of frames, but if you're going to be buying a recorder based on the need to get 60 progressive frames, it won't do you any good since you're not getting that out of the camera anyway.

The OP is referring to the MkII not the original C100.
