Ninja 2 is the successor of Ninja 1 and has better screen resolution as well as hdmi loop trough.
+ it can handle Avid DNXhd

I was just wondering whether there was a great deal difference. I don't need the DNXhd feature however the extra res on the screen would be welcomed and the loop through would be a must especially if using with a SmallHD monitor etc.

there is a huge difference , I have the 2,I dont think you can get the latest atomOS that allows you to get focus assist and zebras etc. to me that was one main reason I got the ninja2 over other recorders , 2 in one . crappy monitor, but better than the 1.

I have the D800 and thinking of ninja, I can't find my answer anywhere, including their website: The HDMI out of the D800 is clean BUT if you shoot in progressive (24p) the HDMI does a 3:2 pulldown so it will play on a monitor, correct? So if you record to a NINJA you're not getting true progressive 24fps footage, but rather a pulldown that has to be removed with your NLE editor. IS THIS CORRECT??

Ninja 1 - you have to remove pulldown in post, and extra step.

Ninja 2 removes pulldown - they suggest you "wiggle your hand" in front of the lens, as the Ninja needs to see some motion rendering to figure the correct cadence.

The HDMI loop through is priceless when you need more than one monitor, too.
