C100: Ninja Blade "Skippy" icon and other issues

While on set last week, I got the "skippy" message on my Ninja Blade. I recorded a ton of footage, and I've watched a lot of it, but I haven't found a clip yet that displays lost frames. I'm using a 250gb SanDisk Extreme SSD drive on the Blade, so I'm a little unsure why I got the message at all... I was under the impression that skipping was only something that happened on spinning HDDs with the Blade.

The Atomos user manual isn't particularly helpful. Anyone else see this problem? I just discovered today that you can click the Kangaroo icon on the touch screen when it appears and it'll go away. I'll have to try that when I get home later, but per my last usage the icon stays on every time I'm recording. Is the icon just telling me I had a single skip, and I need to clear it, or should it go away on its own after a shutdown/restart?

Also -- I've noticed when the Blade is connected to my C100, there's a faint, lighter vertical band running along the mid-left portion of the screen. The band doesn't show up on the C100 LCD or on any footage, so I'm convinced it's an issue with the Blade's LCD. Anyone else had a similar problem? The line has been on the screen since day one, but the skipping hasn't been a problem in months of use until now, and the line doesn't appear during playback when disconnected from the C100.

I'll likely send the Blade back for a replacement after I'm done with the shoot I'm working on next week. I get the feeling I have a lemon.

Sounds like a lemon to me. I have had mine for close to a year and have shot dozens of projects with it, using both SSDs and spinning drives. I have yet to see Skippy and I have seen no vertical bands. Let us know how Atomos takes care of you.

I had a bit of trouble back in the day with some Intel SSDs, but since switching to Sandisk I've only seen the icon once when overheating.
I think it may be a general purpose error warning, not just for skipped frames.

Following up on this issue from way back... my Ninja Blade was always popping up a "kangaroo" whenever I'd start recording to my Sandisk Extreme Pro 250gb SSD. Also, my Blade had a vertical yellow "burned in" line on the LCD that would appear after the unit warmed up. Sent the unit (still under warranty) in to Atomos to have both these issues addressed. Atomos replaced the LCD, performed a firmware update on the unit, and replaced some of the electronic components. The LCD is indeed fixed, but the kangaroo still pops up about 1 minute into recording. My footage is always fine, though, and was actually fine even before the repair, so I guess I'll just live with it. I haven't tried another SSD, so maybe that's the solution.

On a side note, what's the best way to calibrate the LCD on a Ninja Blade with a C100? Any "standardized" settings you guys use? I just match the brightness on the Blade as closely to the brightness on the LCD on my C100 as possible, but maybe there's a better way?

You are lucky that the pictures are clean. I have problems with my Ninja Blade. After 30 minutes recording, my ninja heat a lot and when I look to my pictures I have artefacts. I don't know what to do...
