Nikon vs Canon

I've been buying the old AI nikon primes for use with my 7d and in anticipation of purchasing a Scarlet I want to have all Nikon glass so I wont have to purchase a Nikon and Canon mount ($200 each) for the Scarlet.

I'm also buying a Tamron 17-50mm VC but I am not sure if I should buy the nikon or canon version. Will the Nikon version work correctly on the 7d, assuming I have the proper nikon to canon mount for it?

To be fair, if you bought the Canon mount for Scarlet, you could just use the $20 Nikon adapters to adapt the lenses to that...

Nikon electronic lenses will not interface with the 7D.

If you buy the nikon mount version and use it with an adapter on the 7D you will have to use the Q-tip method to controlling the iris.

Its not so bad, I do this all the time with a nikon mount 11-16 on a 7D
