Nikon User Thread

we just got one, good price because the flash doesnt fire , i read across the interwebz that its a common defect among the D50, but wasnt too concerned about it since im gettinga speedlight or whatever its called this weekend.

just curious if anyone else experienced the problem and what it took to fix it.

Nice, always loved shooting fire....never know what your going to get.

I have a couple from my Canon Elph, but cant put those in here....

No. But you could post them in the Canon Rebel section with a disclaimer. I'd like to see them:beer:

My flash doesn't always fire on the D70s. Especially when I am using it as a commander for the speedlight. It gets tired and just doesnt want to pop. Missed some good photo's because of this!

Here is a shot I of the DVX! Creatively titled Oh DVX! Shot on Nikon D70s!

Nice lighting FilmGizmo. And of course, excellent subject matter. Very crisp image. I only wish the Rebel Thread had as much traffic as the Nikon thread....

RLM, I think that most DVXer's are Nikon users, or at least that is what it seems! Just to let you know to the Lens Flares were intended and were not done in photoshop!

thanks film gizmo. I can force the flash to go off sometimes. But no big deal i guess.

SB-400 will be here on thursday from Calumet, so that will solve that problem. Then my roomate can start taking pictures for us on our gigs.

Just wondering how you force the flash on the body?

Sometimes I jush shut it off and turn it back on to get it to work. But other then that I don't have any problems with it!

Here is another shot! LIZARD! Shot on D70s at a 170mm on a Sigma 70-300 D APO Macro Lens. Shutter 1/400 F4.8!

One question for anyone who can answer!

In the menu of the D70s, there is a meny called Shutter Spd. It has steps like 1/60, 1/30,1/15, 1/8 etc...Can anyone explain what this menu does and what it effects when it is changed? It is currently set a 1/60. Thank you!

Honestly... the speed of the shutter.
It does what the shutter dial does but from the menu.

About the flash it's a small button to the left side near the flash with a thunder icon, it opens the flash.

The option allows you to set the slowest shutter speed when you are in the P or A mode. The standard flash synch is 1/60. You can use slower shutter speed like 1/30, 1/15 if you want to include ambient light in the scene. If you notice, most flash photo has the main subject well lit and the background dark. By adjusting you minimum shutter speed, you might be able to get a better light ratio.

Delfino,
Thank you very much for your input as I was doing some test without the flash and saw that it did let a bit more light in as I tuned it down at the same shutter and aperture speed.

And about the flash. That just pops the flash up (which I already knew about, I thought you were talking about actually making the flash physically go off (like lightning) LoL: ex. for instance the flash button on speed lights.

Thank you though! I appreciate the input!

I like the look of old theatre's. I dont know if it use to be a theatre though. It is now a pottery barn! Woo Hoo!~
