Unfortunately my harddrive crashed a few months back and I didnt have this photo backed-up so I dont have any of the info on it. It was shot on my d90 with a 50mm f1.4 lens.

The rest of these are shot with my 18-200mm lens

Let me know what you think! oh and only the first one did I edit at all in photoshop, all the others are just from the camera

Here are two more...

I am still new to photography so any advice about what people would have done differently would be cool...Thanks!

tmroberts,

I enjoy the first one for its framing -- the bag sandwiched between the ropes and the back wall. That splash of light on the bag adds a nice touch, too.

The second one has potential, I think. Think of a way to make those gloves stand out more. Perhaps move the gloves into different lighting conditions for contrast, move in closer to pick up the sheen (or weathered texture) of the gloves, and even consider photographing the gloves after use, if possible.

dan,
You know what you're doing and I fear you're lightyears ahead of us! Great images. The third one is my favorite. The light gives some definition to his glasses but doesn't create glare.

Single flash behind the subject a few feet and no modifiers or gels?

wow those were great, my favorite was the black and white of the girl. i love the shallow depth of field in that one, it really makes her pop out

Great use of the OOFHs. everybody has taken portraits with very narrow DOF but I think the concept and design style of this shot is great. I can easily see this being a series.

I took this for "thank you" cards that i am creating, what do you think?

This is one of my first attempts at shooting RAW, this image was completely blown out on purpose to see how amazing RAW is....needless to say im never going back.

i went down to the train in la mesa with a friend of mine the other day, i finally got to use my big light stands; i dont think i can shoot with the little ones anymore. i think all went well, let me know what you think.

(i may have to lessen the brightness of this one)

enjoy,

Setrapete,
You can get a little more pop out of those photos with some levels adjustment in photoshop. Could be just the difference in our monitors but they seem to need brightening. I took one of the shots and used "levels" in photoshop to bring out the light areas a bit. Hope you don't take this as anything other than trying to help. With the kids in front of the cloth, pull them out as far as you can from the backdrop, shoot wide open and try to get the background out of focus a bit.

I really like this shot of mine but i have a question to throw out there for all of you. there is a bit of ghosting on the hay bale on the bottom left. does anyone have a tip i can use to remove that?
