Nikon User Thread

Awoke to a nice thick fog here in Colorado. Felt very muted and I immediately saw an opportunity for some great B&W contrast.

Andrew there is a similar contest like DVXuser, it is DPPhotography.com and they have a exclusive open challenge this week for a Road Less Traveled and I thought this would have been a very good photograph for you to submit!

Hey, I have a d40x and I really want to be able to use a fast portrait lense like the 85mm 1.8. Does anybody know of a compatible lense for the d40x or do I have to buy a different body like d80, d200. thanks

Only the 30mm & 50mm Sigma's have HSM and are f/1.4. They will work on the bodies that do not have an internal focus drive motor.

I actually went looking for that lense its either out of stock or the dont have it was it discountinued or something?
thanks

There is a speculative replacement that may possibly be announced for the D80 here in the next few weeks. If that happens the the price on D80's will fall a lot. If you really want to upgrade for only a little more $$$, then you could do that.

I did something similar with the D200 earlier this year. I actually got it cheaper than most D80's are selling for used right now. I have thought I made a better decision doing this and spending my money on Nikon FX glass so that it will bridge a few possible bodies I could get over the next few years.

thanks for replying. I was thinking of upgrading to a d80 or spend more and get the d200. If I can find a d200 as cheap as the d80 that would be awesome. So to use the faster lenses I pretty much would have to get a d80 or d200.

I've been busy on movie stuff, but found this interesting last week on a walk with my dog.
