Nikon lenses on the EX3

OK. This might be a real plebby question. But here goes anyway.

The EX3 has a B4 mount. If I had a Les Bosher B4 to Nikon mount made ( if there none out there), could I then just mount a Nikon 17-35 2.8 lens, or an 80-200mm on the EX3 that would work?

Or are there many other factors to take into consideration?

I guess in theory that would work, but you gotta remember the the EX3 has its handgrip on the stock lens and not on the body like the Canon XL series. Nikons don't have any, so unless you can get a customized Nikon F adapter+handgrip combo, you might not be able to shoot comfortably handheld unless you have a DvRigPro or similar shoulder support system.

Maybe we'll see in a year or two a special Sony adapter that would fit their SLR lenses onto the EX3 B4 mount, who knows? It will probably depend on the sales they get I suppose...

I wasn't thinking handheld. More tripod with rails and follow focus.
Now I guess that doing away with the Letus or Brevis will mean that the depth of field these give will be gone, but replaced by lenses of various lengths. Shooting with a 105mm at a bit further back should give a narrow DOF anyway.

Steve,

There is a solution to forgo mounting a 35mm adapter to the current lens and making your camera look like an anti aircraft shoulder rocket launcher.

Contact Letus and see if you can use the Ex3 b4 adapter with their letus b4 relay lens and then mount a 35mm adapter to the relay kit. The Letus b4 relay adaoter is meant for a 2/3" and the Ex3 is a 1/2" camera though, so ask them for confirmation.

If it works, it should make the entire thing way shorter and making you look less like a guerilla soldier.

the ex3 i believe comes with a 1/2" to 2/3" b4 adapter in box, i think i read that somewhere

anyway it you were to mount your nikon lens to a nikon to b4 adapter, you would have problems because the frame size that an slr lens is meant for is 35mm size while the sensor is 1/2" so it would change the dynamics of the lens by a multiplier so a 50mm lens would become a different size

The focal length in mm would not change. But of course the 17-35 would appear to be a much longer lens on a 1/2" chip than on a 35mm chip/film gate.
