Nikon Lens Question

I will be picking up the gh1 soon and wondering if a lens I have would be compatible with an adapter. I have an old Nikon 55mm f/1.2. Its in immaculate condition and shot beautiful images with my letus adapter so if I can use it on the gh1 that would be cool.

It is from what I understand made in 1974 and says S.C Auto. I'm not to familiar with lenses and on ebay for one of the nikon adapters the seller wrote that it will not work with older lenses.

I was going to sell the lens and it is in the marketplace now here if you want to check out the pics for more info. I may hold onto it to see how it shoots with the gh1. Thanks.

Tony,

I'm pretty sure you'll have no issues at all... the F mount has remained unchanged since its inception. The adapters are just a mechanical coupling for the lens itself... no smarts or linkages. Definitely hang on to it and it should be wonderful on the G1H. You'll have razor thin DOF. I'd suspect.

Cheers,

It should work. My adapter appears to have the clearance for the protruding aperture ring.

Is that a pre AI lens you have? – it should work. I've used pre AI nikons on the ceicco7 adapter with no problems.

No, that's just the little latch for the lock. As far as I've seen only the Novoflex has a aperture plunger. BTW I don't have the ciecio7 Nikon, I got the FD one but a friend got the Nikon one and is very satisfied with it.

That's a shame...I was hoping to avoid the expense of the Novoflex one...I want to use the Tokina 11-16 DX which requires an additional aperture control...or something a little less flash...like a piece of paper jammed in there. Thanks for the info BTW.

Mine contact with ciecio7 has only been through eBay where he was fast and easy to deal with. I've seen that others have talked with him directly over email and he seems to be open to suggestions. No idea if he would be interested in making such a version or if he can beat the Novoflex price but it could be worth a try.

Adapters are available on the web. I picked one up from Europe and received it with no problems. Works great with all my Nikon lenses. It multiplies the focal length by 2X. The 50mm F1.4 becomes 100mm.

^^what he said... but on another note, i seemed to have lost track of a thread where someone said nikon lenses without aperture control default to the highest f stop... while canon lenes default to the lowest f stop... if this is true, that makes my decision easy - despite being a nikon guy for a long time...
