Nikon lens adapter - go cheap or expensive?

I'm looking for an adapter so I can use all my old Nikon AI and AI-S lenses on my GH1. Because these lenses are all MF and have aperture control, I'm assuming I basically just need a simple mount, without any electronic control connections. There are plenty of cheap ones on ebay ranging from £12.99 upwards:

Is there any reason why I shouldn't get one of these cheapy jobbies? Any reason why I should splash out £130+ on a Voigtlander?

Hmmm ok, so it just boils down to build quality then? I think I'll give one of the cheap ones a go, and see if have this light-leaking problem.

I've bought from Amazon Fotodiox Nikon G to MFT with apreture ring and must say that I am very happy with it.

I bought the fotodiox Nikon to MFT adapter (without aperture ring) and I was very happy with it. Until the locking pin fell out, and I had to resort to using a paper clip to even get my lens off it.

I understand the appeal of buying cheap adapters, but I'm done with it. I got the Voigtlander and so far it's excellent.

I have both Voigtlander and Metabones adapters. Both are excellent, but I can buy 3 Metabones adapters at the cost of 1 Voigtlander.

There may indeed be others out there that are as good as, or even better than, the Voigtlander. I hadn't heard of Metabones. I just knew that I was tired of scavenging around in the junkpile, I wanted one adapter that would work well, and I googled around and it seemed like everyone was saying the Voigtlander was the best, so that's the one I got. And I'm happy with it so far.

You can't go wrong with Voigtlander, and that's what I got for my first adapter. Metabones... is not exactly chinese knock off of Voiglander. Slightly different look, but they look kinda alike. Exact same features. Excellent build quality. Originally it was priced around $129. Then $100. ebay seller sells it around $89. I got it at $70. Always ask for some discount. Hehe. I'm holding both adapters. Really... I have no idea why one is $200 and the other one is $70.

I wanted to share one adapter for multiple ai-s lenses... but it didn't seem like a good idea. So I got an adapter for each lens. I might sell Voigtlander to get more Metabones.

Thanks chaps, I've gone for a metabones and got a deal from Lasjas over at mu-43.com for $76 delivered to the UK. I did some searching and the metabones adapters do seem to get fantastic reviews.

Stonebat, what's the benefit of having an adapter for each lens?

Well it preserves the values of lenses as it leaves no more scratch on the rear side. It's easier to change lenses with its own adapter as m43 mount on the body is easier to work with. It's faster to change lenses in some case. e.g. What if I have only one adapter and the pancake is on GH1 and 85mm prime has the adapter but I wanna use 50mm? What if I wanna run and gun fast with only one lens but the lens I want doesn't have adapter? Arrrrrrrr.... It seems no brainer to me to get 3 Metabones instead of 1 Voigtlander.

Hello, Just ordered my metabones for nikon lenses, so am i to uderstand that i get full aperture control with nikon ais and f mount lenses ? Thanks

I've bought several different adapters for different lenses. I'm haPPY WITH THE $15-25 adapters. Save your money for your lenses.

A lot of people had trouble with the fotodiox getting stuck on their lenses... After reading a lot of reviews, I just got the Rainbowimaging adapter at Amazon and it goes on and off fine. Since my AF100 hasn't arrived yet, I haven't tried the camera end, but that is a simple bayonet.
