NIKON D90: Firmware update Page: Look!! It's moving !! (no joke this time)

Hi Guys,

I suggest we keep an eye on the Nikon firmware page in the next days. Actually there are some changes since yesterday I think.
http://support.nikontech.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/13783

You can now see this:

D5000 no firmware updates available
D90 no firmware updates available

Well nothing surprising maybe, they just put the D5000 items uppon the D90. It was not there before. Why would they do this anyway now?

I think we may pray for both D5000 and D90 firmware update soon and something will happen from the sky...
But maybe I'm just full of shi*...

well I don't think it's any coincidence that canon put out a firmware update the day the GH1 started shipping in the US, so who knows what Nikon will do but they'd be mad to do nothing.

I noticed the same thing. I kinda have a feeling it might change at midnight...I am probably way wrong...but it would be sweet.

That would be beyond perfect. I mean, at this point just give me manual controls. I can take the jello and bitrate, no other DSLR is going to give us usable 24p anytime soon.

They would most likely announce a press release before releasing the update. They should release something though, even if it's just to say 'hello'.

nikon has a week to do something before I go out and buy a MKII. I know I know it's a canon but I'll put nikon glass on it and pretend it's a nikon.

Just a quick check into DVXUSER to check on the status of the hugely anticipated D90 firmware update . . . knew you guys would be on it (thanks, Nikonslave). I bought a D90 right after they started shipping, and then, just about every super-fast, manual-focus Nikkor made. But, I haven't shot a thing with it yet (besides a few initial tests), since I can't tell if I'm shooting high-gain "snow" or actually something decent. You know, you can't really see what you're getting on the D90's EVF. I only know what I've got after ingest, and after viewing the footage on a 52" LCD. So, until a firmware update appears that allows manual shutter and ISO settings, my D90 will continue to sit on the shelf, gathering dust.

By the way, what's the status of the much-rumored "D400?" Or did that just "turn into" the D5000? Also, when did the D5000 start shipping?

No news on the D400. Although there is a rumor about a D300s which has specs combined to those of the D90 and D300, with not much more besides an audio input.

They should give an official update soon I hope.

I expect we'll hear something official on the D300s/D400 by the end of June but I can't wait that long I have a stills shoot in 2 weeks so either I pick up another D90 or fork out for a MKII. Damn that 30p!

I suppose most of us are pretty tired of hearing any rumors. Nikon, now we need facts as soon as possible - like squig mentioned (no, he expected it) till the end of june at the latest. If not we are very angry :-)

and we know what happens when the germans get angry

Yes, they were barbarians:

But now, they´re so peaceful :-). BTW about 40% of the us americans have german roots ;-).

Lets hope, that Nikon will give us the right thing for our purposes this summer.

What a ridiculous tease. I see no such evidence that there is any kind of firmware update forthcoming.

NikonSlave, aren't you the one who started a fake d90 firmware update thread as a joke?

You need to be punished....

Need to nix this topic altogether, everytime I scroll through and see D90 and firmware my heart skips a beat.... :(
