Nikon D810 Sound Quality versus D800

I am a long time user of the D800, lots of noise floor issues, have to keep the recording levels in the 3 range out of 20 to keep the noise down, which means cranking up the inputs to make up for this. Does the D810 have a better noise floor.

Since nobody's answered you yet, my .02:

Nobody's answered because it kinda doesn't matter… I've yet to hear of a DSLR that will give you audio you're really want to use for anything but synch. And you can synch, manually or via PluralEyes, with some pretty lame audio.

Maybe a few years ago this was more of an issue, but with quality recorders that have XLRs, phantom power, etc. under $200, it doesn't seem (to me and many others) there's ever a reason to use DSLR audio for anything but synch (unless you're driving home from a gig and witness, say, a presidential assassination and happen to have your camera next to you)....

Get a DR-60D, run the line out to your mic in and you'll have way better sound in your DSLR (and killer sound when you edit).

YMMV of course… if you're just dead set on using DSLR audio, consider a good preamp and at least get a line level (from a good phantom-powered condenser) into the camera...
