Nikon D750

It seems it comes with the same flat profile of the D810. Do we know if it is any good? A profile that saves all the DR from these sensors would be a killer feature.

To be honest, the video looks like Youtube standard most of the time. Sure, there are a lot of shots that need expertise to be accomplished, but it still seems deliberately non-polished.
But maybe marketing it toward the everyday-realworld-user makes more sense than staging sth "cinematic" most people will never accomplish due to various reasons.
So market wise, smart move I guess.

I do want to know what gimbal they used though:

But it's very, very well edited.

As are many videos on YT;)

Again, don´t want to put down the D750, maybe it´s even refreshing that DSLR video isn't once again sold as "cinematic", in the sense of feature film production.
The specs seem to hold up, so if Canon isn´t gonna surprise with sth up their sleeve, DSLR shooters might change brands;)
But no 4k might drive those same shooters to other brands again...

I am keeping my eye on this one. Was shooting with the 5D MKII, 5DMKIII and the C100/300 for the past couple of years, loved the images other than the aliasing, moire, jello and ergonomics on the DSLRs (C100/300 rentals), the DSLRs are a compromise, but an acceptable one for most of my work. But I only have one Canon lens, the rest are Nikons with adapters and I still shoot stills with my D300S and much prefer Nikons for shooting stills for some reason, although I have shot some killer stills on the 5D MKIII when traveling. Bought the GH4 and to be honest, I am just not feeling it. M43 lenses just don't seem to be of the same quality as my old Nikons, the colors on the GH4 just aren't very rich, warm and organic, the camera is giving me a very video-ish look and feel no matter how I set up the camera or manipulate in post. Not bad but somehow I am just not comfortable with it and none of my clients have been raving about the images. 4K is cool but only one of my clients even wants me to shoot 4k, the rest think the storage is too large and the processing time to downres to 1080 too long so they just have me shoot 1080, which for the GH4 is not that great anyway. So for my business, at this point, 4k is a bust, all of my clients deliver 1080. Sure the lack of moire and aliasing is nice, the size is nice but overall, I would rather have a FF Nikon if I had my druthers. As long as the aliasing and stair stepping has been tamed, low jello and the basic image looks as good or better than the 5D MKIII.

If the D750 turns out to be "meh" for video, I will probably sell the GH4 and buy a used 5D MKIII and a Ninja as I have been shooting a load of green screen this year. Any of the usual suspects like Bloom or Dugdale get their paws on an early copy yet? Luckily I have no brand loyalty, I buy whatever will make my company money.

puredrifting, I was in a similar spot as you last year and ended up with the d7100

I had been using a canon for 2-3 years and ammassed a collection of Nikkors.

The d7100 was better than anything else out there and got my money.

It's definitely a huge step up in terms of video quality and still quality.

I'm definitely keeping an eye on the 750

D7100 is a great camera, especially with an external recorder. The 750 seems to have less or no fixed pattern noise and a flatter profile. I'd love to try out the "uncompressed" hdmi out.

What is annoying is that the bloggers have turn into a bunch of sheep and sensationalist. If it is not raw, 4k etc. it does not interest them to test. So Nikon has been upgrading there DSLR range constantly to a level I would place them as the best all rounded hybrid dslr cameras. But they have no recognition because the spec list. Nowadays every Nikon is coming out with no aliasing/moire, very good low light, very high DR etc with the best photographic camera for the price. I have seen test (I think chinese site) of the D810 with more than 800 line of resolution which put it in the ball part of the GH2 and close to the C300 which are considered very high resolution. My d7100 test showed that the D7100 was also close to the gh2, which is known to produce very high quality cinema projection and it kills it in term of DR and low light.

I totally agree and your test proved the quality of the D7100 vs the GH2. Moreover, I like the Nikon colours much better than Panasonic or Sony

I aggree that attention-grabbing features are deciding what gets tested and used and what's bypassed and forgotten, which is obviously a bad thing. But it is also a sign of how much things have improved in the last couple of years: we used to long for clean images (no aliasing/moire), better codecs, clean outputs, more DR... And we could only dream about RAW and 4K. Now there are lots of cameras that give us the full basic list, and a few that are also delivering those pipe dreams. I think the basic list is a lot more important (that's the reason I bought an a7s even though I had no plans to shoot 4K), but, since so many cameras have them, those other things that nearly nobody needs are grabbing the headlines.

Great cameras that have gone completely under the radar for most people, just in the last few months: D810, a6000, a5100. The D750 will probably join the list.

Meanwhile, lots of people keep on buying Canon because they were the best four years ago.

I'd be great if Nikon stated what kind of sensor readout the 750 does, as a video maker I'd love to find out this piece of information BEFORE getting the camera or having to read through tons of various posts.

Really was hoping that the GH4 would have inspired Nikon with a new DSLR release. Would have been thrilled to see real 10-bit out via HDMI at the least, higher frame rates, etc. Nikon's now about the only big brand without a 4K solution (which I would love for keying).

Unless there's something killer in the codec for this new body, seems like the 5300 or 7100 (if you don't need 1080-60) would save a lot of cash for video shooters, unless you really need full frame.

The D750 images look cleaner than those of the D7100, at least by looking at the Unchained video they published, and the colours are great.

What do you guys think the colors and aliasing/moire/jello will be on the D750? I have to say, as much as I am not crazy overall about the 5D MKIII, I really like the colors. I shot a piece for Fox in Morocco on the set of the TV show last year, I saw the finished piece yesterday for the frist time and the colors blew me away, they were very rich, organic and flattering. I rented the 70-200 2.8 IS Canon lens for that shoot and the combo of the 5D MKIII and that lens was almost magic. Do you think the D750, when paired with some quality glass, will be able to match that level of color, contrast and feel? The aliasing on the 5D MKIII is better than the 5D MKII I own, but it is still there and the Jello is pretty bad. I will buy the D750 if the aliasing/moire/jello is tamed, which it looks to be from this Unchained video. I am still a bit concerned because all of the video reports I read about the 610 were that it had bad aliasing for video, not sure about the 810 for video, does it have a lot of aliasing for video? I like the colors overall in the D750 Unchained video, except the exterior Parkour shots look too blue to me, but the interiors with the dancer look warm and rich. Guess I will wait for the normal video reviewers to get their hands on one, but I am optimistic that this may be a good camera for me.

hmhmm,
Camerastore said it's the best FF DSLR out atm...
Looked a lot around, bit I simply love the colours of Nikon footage.

Thanks for the link, just watched this. Their "video guy" answered the questions I had about aliasing, color, sharpness. I don't like to push the 5DMKIII past ISO 800 much, but it looks as if I could safely push past ISO 800 with this camera. It's funny, when the 5D MKIII came out, people were saying they were shooting ISO 3200 and 6400 with it. Sorry, but to me, those speed look like a grainy mess. It will be interesting to see how the D750 footage holds up at say, ISO 1250 or 2500, if it is usable for my needs. Much of the footage I shoot is for the studios and their tech specs and QC are pretty picky.
