Nikon D750 and Marshall monitor compatibility?

So I'm using a Nikon D750 for a job this week, and building the camera today, I can't for the life of me get an image to show up on our Marshall V-LCD56MD. The monitor and HDMI cable are working just fine with our Canon cameras, but I haven't had any luck with the Nikon. I've tried every menu setting I can think of. Anyone else encounter this particular issue?

I haven't done it, but I've watched people connect them and it was pretty much instant.

I hate to state the stupid stuff, but please try connecting it to any other HDMI input, like a TV just to verify the port is even working. I have heard of a few D750's arriving with bad HDMI ports.

The D750 is a potentially wonderful camera, but it has been plagued by manufacturing problems.

Hey DP, I'm really interested in the '750 but was surprised by your comment. What other manufacturing problems have been seen....apart from the flare issue?

Thanks DPStewart, I think usually it is the stupid stuff that is the problem, so I'm not offended at all by the suggestion.

I did some troubleshooting to try to isolate the issue and discovered that the HDMI output from the D750 pops up instantly on my Kinotehnik EVF, and the HDMI pass-thru from the Kinotehnik to the Marshall works just fine. So, as far as I can tell, the Marshall just does not like the signal directly from the D750. I tried selecting 1080i, 1080p, 720p, etc. and none of them worked. Very odd. I've contacted Marshall to see if they have any insight.

Well, the flare issue was really the result of a component not being installed precisely enough - that's why it didn't affect all cameras.

I know of 4 users directly that had DOA cables to the LCD screen or an HDMI port that was DOA.

Nikon sure seems to have been fixing everything well and fixing quickly, so I don't think there will be any issues with general long-term durability. Just be prepared for weird and unexpected buggaboos in the first year. But having shot with one more than a few times I can tell you that aside from that these cameras feel really solid.

When I got my first D7100, it worked with my Marshall but no signal detected by the big Samsung HDTV I use on set on a wheeled stand… tried it on my main living room TV and got a signal. The Samsung just doesn't like this body.

But, if I run the signal through my (powered, not passive) HDMI splitter, it works on everything. Maybe the splitter amplifies the signal or changes it in some more-standard way? Worth a try if you have one (they're like $14 these days, too).

I chalk it up to electronic ghost-in-the-machine stuff…

It's hdcp...for some reason Nikon decided to put copy protection on the hdmi for some of their cameras...the splitter is one way to get rid of it.

Oh no way....just. NO. WAY.

I hope to hell that's not true...because that would be the dumbest thing I've heard of from that company.
