Here's a seat of the pants project. Loaded the truck with gear and props, packed a lunch and hit the Texas back roads. Me, the singer and a makeup/wardrobe/synch playback person.
7100 was the primary cam, rented a 5300 for 60p steadicam shots. Never tried the Steadicam in the Texas sun, had really zero idea of what was in focus. Currently developing a nightvision-mount HDMI headset EVF (seriously).
Interiors were done VERY late at night, with the camera on a crane stuck through the window of a tiny room and sandbagged to the window sill. Focus was a nightmare and we'd had a few drinks by then!
Lenses were primarily:
Nikkor 28-70 2.8 (the beast);
Nikkor 85mm 1.8 AF;
Nikkor 18-35.
On the 5300 I had a rented Tokina F4, 12-something zoom if I recall correctly, screw on .9 ND - liked it a lot for outdoors, I'd miss the 2.8 inside though.
Sort of graded this to look like washed out film and added a lot of diffusion in post.
Really like the 7100 for DSLR video - the 5300 is nice as well, but it doesn't have the remote trigger jack which is the bomb on a crane.
Synch audio was an iPad with a $30 bluetooth Sharkk speaker, dynamite rig for a no-drums project.
