Nikon D5300 video samples.

Wow, looks much better in the noise department than what Ive seen of the d5200. Definitely a bit sharper than the Canons as well. Without a direct comparison to my 60D, the d5300 does seem to have better DR as well judging from this shot.
Ive quickly adjusted the curves and used neat video to clean it up and sharpen, looks promising!

Definitely more noise on the GH3, but it is noticably sharper than the Nikon. The D5300 is only a little sharper than my 60D from what Ive seen, but the colors seem like they are rendered better on the Nikon.

It seems that a big part of the D5300 image is out of Focus like the power markings etc. It would definitely need a test with much deeper Dof to be sure about the gh3/d5300 sharpness. The D5300 has much less noise than the gh3.

iso 800, F5.6 compared GH3 Vs D5300 3200k, standard, with minimum contrast..
GH3 has too much noise..

Thanks Oleg for the test sample, could you perhaps do some high iso video of D5300 and 5d3 to see how it stack against one of the best Dslr in low light and some low Iso against the gh3 which is one of the highest resolution dslr. One thing to do sharpness test is to have the maximum depth of field so as everything is in focus. You can see a test I did between D7100 and panasonic gh2 here http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?310503-Nikon-D7100-vs-Panasonic-gh2-sharpness

Daniel, I can do two test against 5dmk3 and GH3 in terms of resolution and noise.. Standard with contrast all the way to minus, seems logical.. D5300 seems to have a better noise supressor, compared to D5200, will check Focus, in last test did manual test..
GH3 resolves more, for sure, but has more noise at any iso, is seems that detail coring is off on GH3.
Will post results, original files later today.

Thanks Oleg, but would it be possible to do test in Neutral with contrast down for both of them as it would give us better idea about Dynamic range also.

Short original files D5300 vs Canon 5dmk3 at iso 100, what obvious is dynamic range..
same color settings, both cameras shot at Neutral, contrast to minimum.

GREAT TEST!
* much better DR in the D5300, at least a stop or two better in the highlights, and about the same in the shadows
* the mesh in the pencil can looks very stable, it seems the D5300 will be OK in the aliasing/moire front

I don't care how sharp the GH3 is: that flying noise is hideous. And the D5300 again looks pretty clean. If it could mount a speedbooster I'd be all over it.

I agree that the noise is very poorly handled, but that's where neatvideo comes in. I guess as long as you dont need mid-high ISO, it would be a great choice. The dynamic range is a little better, or at least no worse, than the Canon's too it seems. The sharpness is just insane. Is this something that is due to the MFT sensor? Why the hell cant other manufacturers achieve the same sharpness?

Look at my test between Nikon D7100 and gh2 which is considered sharper than gh3. As you can see they are so close that many did not commit and others got it wrong. I am not saying that D5300 is the same, but clearly most of the scene is out of focus in the test above and we will need further test and comparison to know.

I use neatvideo, but for other reason, to clean the banding in the d7100 video and I would really like not to use it. And the same would apply to the D5300 but you would get as clean as the D5300 800 iso sample but at 3200 or 6400 Iso with neat video.
