Nikon D3s has undocumented manual control in video mode

Just came across this while reading a different article on the site that I was linked to (unrelated to dslr's).

Anyways, apparently the D3s has full manual mode for video, but it is not documented and Nikon Japan are the only ones who knew about it...

Not sure if this is old news or has been discussed already. Feel free to noob me if so :) But, I thought it would be of interest to the dslr crowd.

Its very strange

I tested a D3s over the hols against my 5d and 7d (lots more to follow)

It does indeed appear to have manual control

Accessing it is annoying however you have to press one of the buttons to kick it in - leading to accidentally starting shots in error in auto on occasion

Again im sure one develops the muscle memory - I struggle enough just swapping between the 5 and the 7 !

Yeah I agree. The fact that Canon made manual controls happen and now 24p shows they had a significant demand. Is it possible they didn't know and or didn't have it implemented before the printing of the manual?
