Nikon COOLPIX P1000 4K 24-3000mm !

and has some nice codecs ...but the fz300 has the same size sensor and a constant aperture f2.8 lens ...and sells for $400 !

If the FZ2500 had a lens like the Nikon P1000 I would certainly buy it, since it already has much of what is needed in a video camera

The sensor size of 1/2.3 in this Nikon has the same spec as some of the Google Pixel phone sensors. Absolutely tiny, with a diagonal of only 7.18mm and a crop factor of 6.03 that's small. That's a smaller sensor than a 1/3" Handycam with an 8mm diagonal. With a sensor of that size with 4K pixel resolution I'm somewhat doubtful as to what it's performance will be like in moderately low light conditions let alone in real low light. Especially at the long end of its 125 x zoom where it drops to f/8.0 which will be a big ask on a 1/2.3 sensor to deliver decent light levels. Amazing what's coming out these days but that length lens on a 1/2.3 sensor at f/8.0 is about the same as a FF sensor at f/45. Expect some serious diffraction and image softening at these figures. FF is going into diffraction at around f/11. Amazing to get an image this large with a single lens camera but the softening in the image is pretty self evident.

I posted on DPReview that the camera seems kind of gimmicky. When you brings the facts in it looks like kind of a waste. Why? The camera is quite large. If you keep the camera size the same but use a larger sensor and have a goal of a very fast lens they could have created a great all in one tool. Instead you have a bazooka. Zoom length is not as impressive to me as a constant aperture f2.0 zoom would be.

Anyone here happy with your Nilon P900 and well does it shoot in low light, or indoor for example an interview. Would love to see some samples. I was hoping that Sony RX 10 new version this year, but am really like the P1000 so far. I would like a nice all around family camera.

I would think even a smartphone like the Google Pixel 2 ( 12.2 MP, f/1.8, 27mm, 1/2.6", 1.4µm, OIS, dual pixel PDAF & laser AF ) is better in low light and indoor for interviews than the P1000. The P1000 is for people that want the extreme long range (4.3-539mm F2.8-F8). I have the P1000 pre-ordered but have other cameras for low light and indoor use. My brother has the P900 but only uses it outdoors on sunny days. The P1000 has a hot shoe for powerful flashes if you want to shoot stills indoors or use a video light for 4K uHD video. The P1000 pop up flash should be ok at the 24mm eqiv F2.8 setting indoors.

Very cool!

It reminds me of this guy hooking up a Fujinon broadcast box lens with a GH4 giving an insane parfocal zoom range of 44-2515mm full frame equivalent.

But this one tops it with a 24-3000mm full frame equivalent.

Nice photo! So in daylight this camera seems to make a lot of sense (though there seem to be quite a bit of blurred edges). What's about a sports event at night in bright floodlight? Is it still fast enough to shoot some soccer players in full action? Or will exposure be too long due to the f8 lens and limited ISO on the small sensor?
