Nikkor AI-S lenses = Any recommendations?

I currently just bought a 50mm AI-S lens and just love the look. Not sharp, but has great contrast and I love the colors. I'm looking for something wider though that can provide the same results.

I love my tokina 11-16mm but have notices it suffers from moire and aliasing more than my other lenses ( to sharp maybe?). I would love to find something around that focal length or possibly 18-24mm in a vintage Nikkor lens.
Any help is greatly appreciated
thanks

Ken Rockwell have many review of wider Nikon lenses. I been looking over his reviews for the last couple of days. He said the 24mm f2 are soft but he compliments the 24 f2.8 as very sharp

My tests are done with an APS-C canon, and still the corners are absolutely horrible with all the vintage wide angles I've tested. Check the link: not one of them can touch the kit lens (18-55 f/3.5-5.6 IS) used as a 18mm f/3.5 prime. I love my vintage primes, but the widest one is 35mm, all the others were borrowed, or I sold them after testing.

I think your tests are missing quite a selection of vintange wides there Samuel. The Olympus OM 24mm f/2.8 has better corner sharpness than the Canon 24mm L f/1.4 according to these tests -

And vs. a few more vintage 24mm's -

While I've found most vintage wides to be relatively soft wide open, they can provide incredible bang for the buck and a fantastic look vs. the inexpensive kit lenses. In fact the kit lens on my T2i is so horrible looking inspite of some decent sharpness, that I think it's completely useless. In fact I'd rather use virtually any vintage 24mm in nearly any circumstance vs. the canon kit lens.

Just my $0.02 for what ever that's worth.

Cheers,
Pete

I was reading up on the Nikkor AI-s 28mm and it is said to be one of Nikon's sharpest lenses with no distortion. I originally wanted a 24mm but if the 28mm is that much better I might get it and sell my Sigma 28mm f/1.8

This is the Sigma lens I use and really like due to size, i.q. , and close/,macro options. But recently I've fell in love with the look of vintage nikkor AI-s lenses.

Of course my tests are missing lots of vintage lenses: that's a near-infinite field!! If anybody has interesting ones here in Madrid, I'm always happy to try new ones. Got to get some actual work right now, though...
