Nikkor 50mm 1.8 AIS as good as AI ?

Hi,
there is a bargain with Nikkor 50 1.8 AIS. Is the lens almost identical to AI ? In terms of size also ?

There seems to be a bit of a consensus out there that the AI is a bit better than the AI-s. Better construction at least.

Seems there is a difference among the AI-s models depending on when they were made.


I shoot nearly ALL Nikkor manual lenses and IMHO I would get the AI if you can find one in grade A condition - which you probably CAN if you check eBay sellers from Japan.
I have several old Nikkor manual primes I got that way and they are MINT. And amazingly affordable.
