Night sky shooting

Just a question on ability of night shots like the moon and stuff. Which would be better, 7D or T2i? I would get a big zoom of course. External monitor capable too.

The T2i and 7D are the "exact" same in video(not technically, but visually)

That being said, go with the T2i, because of the movie crop mode, its a boost if you can deal with it only being in SD.

And even if you need HD, T2i is the same video and its cheaper, so go with the T2i.

Heres a vid I found using the t2i to shoot the moon with the movie crop

Yeah, either camera...no difference for getting shots of the night sky and moon. Good point about the SD crop function on the T2i.

Thanks for the replys. Currently looking at a EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM lens I see on canons web site. Any good for a good zoom and picture quality?

Yes..But I recommend a 2.8 for night stuff. Makes a huge difference for stars..not so much for moon.

The EF-S 55-250mm is just as good optically and can be bought for under $200. If you're the 'spare no expense' type, the EF 70-200mm 2.8L II at $2.5K is your ticket.
