thx for the comments guys, I'll be using this technique for my "night" scene then.

john- nope no talent, just me messin around in Julian.

this is the best way for me to do this since i have no lights.

if you have talent ( ever ) in those night shots, your going to need lights for their features to be the slightest bit visible. As it is right now the shot looks very night like, very convincing, but the moment you use a talent he or she will be blacked out completely. Because of the rocks and leaves dents an bumps, the small amount of light that is currently there is more visible, but skin (smooth) will not reflect the light as sharply ( i.e. talent with no features )

What were your on camera settings for this shot?

it reminds me of chronicals of narnia night scenes

Oooh, I hope not... that was some of the worst day-into-night work I've ever seen in a feature film. Looks like they just ran everything through a blue filter... nothing was pulled down to blacks... no shadows or anything. That's just my opinion though and sorry it's a bit off topic.

As for the grab, it looks great. Looks as if you have a perfect full moon for your lighting.

my appologies. I saw these still with a old box monitor from work whose contrast ration was about 50:1. Could not see any brightness at all yet the boards looked fine.

Very nice CC.

Cool stuff, I think it pases well, I to am very curious as to what exactly you used to achieve the effect. Thanks for posting.
