NFL 2007-2008 Thread

I agree that some of the calls were phantom calls, but while we're on the topic of fishiness, I'm still in shock that "Spygate" just came and went and none of the details were released. The Pats got caught red handed (against a horrible Jets team no less) cheating and had to turn in a whole library of tapes and the ones that where filmed illegally were destroyed and yet nobody knows what exactly were on the tapes or how many games and tapes were in question. And the thing that really blows my mind is how defensive Belicheck and everybody is about it. They admitted their guilt (half-heartedly) and act shocked that people question their accomplishments.

they got caught, they didn't have the opportunity to use the film in the jets game, so no advantage there.

I'm definitely proud to have Tony Dungy as our coach who is a class act all around, and it's too bad that Belicheck is such a cold guy, but to each his own I guess.

dungy seems like a genuinely good guy. he is sort of like mark richt.

go dawgs!

What makes you pick the Vikes over the mighty G?

Finally a good day in football. )

Yeah, wtf? Thing is, before I even did my ritualistic read of all the Monday morning sports pages I was dreading it. I knew the writers would be talking about the big turnaround and the players would be ripping off their usual platitudes "thats how we play. thats how our team plays when we execute. and this is just the beginning. weve got lots of football left to play and we finally know how to fill our gaps" blah blah blah.

Great game yes. But, we played against a HORRIBLE Chiefs offensive line. HORRIBLE. So, I'd like to see Denver put together back to back convincing wins before I even entertain the possibility of winning the division. Because, right now, I'm not too impressed.

The Vikes had a good week last week, thought they may have been able to build on that, apparently not. 34-0, couldn't have been more wrong on that one.

Pretty ugly week overall with 5 for 14, a weak 35.7%.

A few surprises this week with Indy losing to the Chargers. That loss there should lock up the AFC and home field advantage for the Pats (if it wasn't already).

You Broncos fans aren't out of it yet. You got Tennessee, Chicago, Kansas City and Houston coming up. Definetly winnable games.

and after all these weeks, you still haven't topped my winning percentage the lone time i picked the games

You mean the time you copied my picks and slightly changed them?

That week I think you almost had them all right? We might have to have a little competition next week.

Yeah, with some of the picks I made this past weekend, I would have been better off betting on the Washington Generals.

Yep, Denver is always a threat at home, espcially on a Monday nighter, that place is going to be rocking and the team is going to be amped up. If there going to turn their season around, its gotta be this week.

I hope you are right. But they've lost that home field edge. I keep telling everybody that if Cutler turns out to be the real deal he and Shanny will wind up making beautiful music together.

I'll try to predict the score - 31-21 Broncos.

I may place a bet this weekend, might lean towards hockey though.

56-10, wow, that was a performace. The Pats scored on 7 of their 8 possesions. They only time they didn't was when their backup (Cassells) and 2nd stringers were in.

How about the Jets upsetting the Steelers?

Anyone catch the finish to that Browns vs Ravens game? That was pretty wild.

The story is the Patriots - the unbeatable, dare I say, Patriots. I'm old enough to remember quite a ways back. I remember the undefeated Dolphins, the Steel Curtain, Montana's 49ers, Sweetness the Fridge and Da Bears, but I don't think I've ever seen such a dominant team. Now granted they could suffer a few major injuries, or get to the playoffs and have more than one odd bounce go against them at the wrong time, but right now, they look simply unstoppable. I mean, even the 2nd and 3rd string guys look impressive.
