NFL 2007-2008 Thread

Great come back by the Pats. I was getting a little nervous there for a while and yeah, the Colts D really surprised me. Manning looked a little frustrated after losing the ball. I'm surprised nobody mentioned this but the refs did an absolute terrible job yesterday, that pass interference on Hobbs and then the offensive pass interference on Moss later in the game were brutal. The Hobbs one espcially, I thought those calls were a little suspicious. Yesterdays game was the exact opposite as last years AFC championship game with us coming back this time.

Cutler went down yesterday did he not? And yeah, the Broncos got hammered. Detroit is looking pretty good this year. Green Bay with another victory, looks like it could be Dallas and Green Bay this year in the NFC.

I agree, there were at least 3 calls that were complete fabrication by the refs. It really seemed like they were skewed towards indy. I don't know if it was the spygate thing or they are from the midwest. The Moss one infuriated me, he didn't even have an arm extended.

The other thing is there is going to be some bad blood after this game. There had been a Detente, but there was a lot of jawing going on at the end of the game and the manning/brady, Belichek/Dungy handshake were cool at best.

The Hobbs penalty was a phantom call, I have no idea where they could have possibly thought an infraction happened, he wasn't even close to the player. The Moss one pissed me off too just for the timimg of it, first and goal and they push us back 10 yards on that. Ridiculous.

Yeah, I noticed that they hardly even looked at each other during the handshake. Although Belichick said during his press conferences last week that he does bump into Dungy in the offseason and its not like they don't get along or anything. Nothing was really said in the press this week so I wonder if it was an on field issue. Anyways, we won thats the most important thing. So if we do lose one game this year, we'd still have the tiebreaker against the Colts for any playoff game, which means a cold day for the Colts in foxboro.

Also, the league bumped up our next game against the Bills to a Sunday night primetime game instead of regular evening one, I think we will see more of that as we try to go undefeated, that means we play 3 prime time games in a row after the bye week (Buffalo on Sunday, Philadephia on Sunday and Baltimore on a Monday).

GO PATS!

The spike on the colts helmet after the turnover and the colts taking a cheap shot while Brady was kneeling didn't help matters. I'll tell you this, home field advantage has never been so important.

The real question is will Belichick go for the undefeated season. That Giants game looms large in week 17. You have to go for it but how are you not looking ahead to the playoffs and worrying about injuries.

I didn't know the BC Lions played in the NFL....

Belichick being the football historian that he is will definetly go for it, but yeah your right, looking out for injuries at that time of the year is defenitly something they should consider.

Don't really follow the CFL anymore, with like only 8 teams in the league doesn't make things that interesting. Grew up on the east coast.

while they'll probably get home field advantage, i think the pats will probably lose a game or two. i'm sure every team around the league was taking notes when the colts were running on the pats and keeping brady off the field. as long as our key guys are healthy and we have harrison back, i actually like our chances in new england better than in indy

Well, the way the Patriots destroyed the Redskins, even when they were down to their third-stringers, I don't think the Patriots are going to have to worry about resting Brady or anyone else in some games.

NFC is anyone's guess. I like the looks of Dallas and GB too. But I wouldn't rule Detroit out. They have a lot of new guys and a new coach and they don't seem to understand that they're not supposed to win! I like the looks of New Orleans as well. I am not very impressed with the Giants. They've had a soft schedule, so let's see how they do against the Cowboys...

I see Pats Vs Colts/Steelers in the AFC Championship game (Steelers have quietly gone unnoticed this year) and Cowboys Vs Packers in the NFC championship.

I agree that some of the calls were phantom calls, but while we're on the topic of fishiness, I'm still in shock that "Spygate" just came and went and none of the details were released. The Pats got caught red handed (against a horrible Jets team no less) cheating and had to turn in a whole library of tapes and the ones that where filmed illegally were destroyed and yet nobody knows what exactly were on the tapes or how many games and tapes were in question. And the thing that really blows my mind is how defensive Belicheck and everybody is about it. They admitted their guilt (half-heartedly) and act shocked that people question their accomplishments. If the valedictorian of your school got caught red handed cheating on a little quiz, wouldn't you question whether they cheated on things that actually mattered like big tests? All that being said I wish Belicheck never cheated cause I have alot of respect for people like Brady and don't want to take anything away from their accomplishments, but the fact of the matter is that they cheated and shouldn't be excused from consequences by winning. I'm definitely proud to have Tony Dungy as our coach who is a class act all around, and it's too bad that Belicheck is such a cold guy, but to each his own I guess.

I dare you to find a classier individual. The man is beyond nice and he's extremely talented. I've always wished that the Vikings would've canned Denny and promoted Tony. It was a huge mistake to let him go.
