Hey guys,
Sorry I've been stuck under a rock for the past few months. Things got crazy busy for me and I barely even popped my head in here for awhile. I would love if we could keep the group going, but I just can't reliably set up meetings and events. Weekends have just gotten too crazy. So if there is anyone that would like to step up and get the NYC group back together again, I can pass on all the contact info that I have. I hope to start coming back to the website more often and hopefully will get to see all you guys soon. PM me if you're interested in taking a leadership role for the NYC DVXUser group.
In other news, and part of why I've been so busy, is that I've been putting together (Producing, directing, and shooting) a video podcast project that I may be looking for some help with. After I reorient myself to the site (a lot has changed!), I'll let you guys know more about it and see if anyone is interested in helping out. Thanks for your patience.

Look into Downtown Community Television.
www.dctvny.org
They are on Lafayette st. a block north of The fed court house
and a block south of Canal. and about a block south/east of the
Holland Tunnel.
They have workshops. The Basic DV production class is DVX100
based. it will teach you how to use the DVX. it runs over all the camera's
features. The class is $75 for members and $105 nonmembers
(membership is cheap, like around $25 )
The Basic DV production class will be running
Mon 3/5 and Tues 3/6 6:30-9pm
and there's another session on
Wed 3/7 and Thur 3/8
there will also be workshops in April and May.
For something a bit more advanced there is Digital cinematography.
If you really haven't used your DVX yet the basic class is very basic
but worth your time. If you become a member you will also be
able to rent equipment from them such as mics, lights and tripods
at fairly good prices.
