Also, I don't know how much it matters for the shoot-out, but I will be happy to bring a lighting kit too. I dunno if it will help to light things in different ways, or what you have planned, exactly, but let me know.
 
I am definitely in for a get together after the boot camp on the 20th.

I imagine it should be some place close to the Abel Cine that has drinks and food ( those of us coming from the Boot Camp will need to grab some dinner).

How long is the boot camp? I have a ton of work to do on my herofest so I might hang for a little depending on how long the boot camp is.

also mark, the INterweb. i dont watch movies on 320 X240 screens. i like big old Trinitron vision and a DVD.
 
I posted a thread asking where they were hanging out after and Jarred deleted it. When I asked why he said that the section was only for registered bootcampers.
 
i spoke to Shawn he said something about Cafe Riviera or riviera cafe on W4th and 7th ave. a sports bar.

Sorry man, I would have been, but just got in. Was rehearsing with my actors all day, then out of the city for the evening. Urgh. But I'm around this week if anyone wants to grab a beer.

Sorry I couldn't make it in there this weekend. Hope the Bootcamp and any debauchery that occurred after that was fun. Anyway, I've announced the next meeting. We're calling it a HeroFest Premiere and I've created another thread for it, so go there and check in when you get a chance.

Maybe Aram is right and one of the Horror Fest Monsters has eaten Ryan.

Maybe you should take the reins for a while Shawn.

I'm sure you'd do a great job and I'd like to get together with everyone again.

The 35mm adapter shootout is just a slight logistics problem that can be solved with a handful of calls. I think we have 4-5 adapters between the "sweathogs" (DVX user group here in NYC). and we have a studio to do it and all the gear we'll need and the right people to do it.

like all y'all, I got a lot going on, but after Horrorfest is in the can, I will get the ball rolling for a mid October or late October shot at it.

I think that has the biggest bang for the buck:

1. who wants to learn or experiment with lighting? you get yer chance
2. who wants to learn or see a CRT production monitor in use with a DVX/HVX? yah, you can do that
3. who wants to see Green Screen in action? uh-huh
4. who wants to network and play with some of the best shooters in the city? yah.
5. who wants to see some shallow DOF? or maybe a follow focus in action?

it is my hope to run this almost like a mini exhibition conference, where there are 3-4 stations all doing something different, and you can pick your poison and sit in on the session or whatever (or move around).

then after people get dirty and loosened up, we hook up the best camera candidate and do a very, very scientific analysis of the various lenses, adapters etc. people can stay for that or they can bail and meet us after for the party or whatever.

Timur has expressed interest in DP'ing it and I concur. he's a 35mm guru and the right guy for the job.

ANY OTHER IDEAS other than the 35mm shootout???
 
That was last week at the "secret" DVx user meeting only me and mar k were invitedto. Shawn has the tapes.....
