Next DVX100 price drop?

I plan to buy a used DVX100p/a/b in the near future, but was wondering whether I should wait for further price drops. Do these cameras traditionally fall in price after the NAB convention? I've noticed that all three models of the DVX100 have come down significantly in price over the years, so I was wondering if there is a typical time when these drops occur (and I would assume such drops would be echoed in eBay auctions).

As HD cameras become cheaper, do you think the DVX100s will become significantly cheaper?

Thanks,
Brad

At this point, unless you NEED a camera RIGHT NOW, wich it doesnt sound like you do, I'd just wait until you can afford a good HD camera like the HVX or EX1.

The thing is that I'd be using the camera for mainly shorts, sketch comedy, and web content. I don't anticipate many opportunities when I'd want to shoot in HD, especially with all the extra computing space/power it requires. I can get a used DVX100p or 100a for $1300-1900 on eBay, whereas it seems HD cameras would cost at least a couple thousand more (I could be wrong, I haven't done as much research into prices for HD). I figure that since everybody else wants to get HD, the price for SD camcorders should fall significantly. But has that drop already happened or is it about it happen?

Often price drops are determined by other manufactures and the market. No doubt Canons A1 price forced the DVX price down a bit and since the release of the Sony EX-1 Panasonic started throwing a 900.00 p2 card into every HVX box.

The consumer always wins when there is competition. If you can I would hold my breath until after NAB but I would not suspect a significant price drop on the DVX. In my opinion those prices have nearly bottomed out.?

I agree that the prices have probably bottmed out. I think they will stand at an average of 1500 based on quality (sure you can get one for 1300, but it probably has 1000 hours and you'll be socking another 400 in soon).

Because it is a 3CCD camera with manual controls and a strong and sturdy body, I'd say the price will never get below $1000, and as I said, people will probably use them up until then, meaning you'll either have to replace the heads or buy a Firestore, which is almost as much as the camera itself.

I'd say many folks will hold onto them as backup cam even if they get HD, rather than sell it off for next to nothing (unless of course, again, there's something wrong with it. I mean why sell a good camera for 800. That's not even a drop in the bucket toward the HVX. It's like giving it away.

I found my DVX100 on ebay, bought the cheapest Buy It Now I could find and that was that. Same for me, I don't need HD so it was a perfect buy for me, instead of paying 2400-2600 for a new one.
