That was the last one I entered. And "Scriptless" was the winner, made by hiro. It was called "One Script to Rule Them All".

Everybody had the same script but the details were vague, so you had a month to rewrite, cast, shot, edit, and deliver.

I would love mystery...that would be a blast.

I agree on Action, but I feel it could be a separate Fest from Adventure.

With Action you could have:
-martial arts
-a "die-hard-onna" (on a boat, on a bus, etc.)
-a man against the elements
-a spy thriller
-a chase film
-and countless others

-or-

Adventure:
-a cliffhanger
-an Indiana Jones-like quest
-an explorer in the jungle/no man's land
-once again endless possibilities.

IMHO of course.

hmm....

wat about a moive about something new and popular on the computer among many people?

not much info in that...which opens many doors to different things.

give us an example

um..

myspace...online forums...doing all ur buying online...paying bills online.......

something along the lines that has to do witha great deal of use of a computer. Things that a lot of people are into wen on a computer..

Its probably not as great as a suggestion as a mystery or w.e..but that popped into my head.

I personally would love documentary. And I think on average there would be more interesting films than what we saw this time around.

But I'm funny that way.

For something really off the wall, we could do a Public Domain Fest. Research different legends or folktales that are Public Domain, pick one, adapt the story to screenplay and score it with all public domain music.

There are certain plot elements common to many noir films. The outsider protagonist is usually at least partially in the dark over the course of the story and unravels the mystery at the end. The protagonist is also underestimated and manipulated by other characters for their own ends, but gradually gains control and turns the tables over the course of the story. Alliances shift and reform. Throw in some betrayals and a femme fatale. And don't forget a good beating for the protagonist, that only makes him more determined.

ah, i get it, thanks barry.... but that seems like a hell of a lot to pull off in 6 minutes if you ask me.

so i guess there's 2 different types of noir?

the noir that's french for black, mainly a black and white lighting style using the absence of light,

and the plotline noir, with all the stuff barry mentioned above?
