NEX5 video encoder comparison to GH1

Why do you think the GH1 footage has so much less aliasing?
The GH1 does not have "so much less aliasing" than any other DSLR. Barry's tests have proven this. The GH1's aliasing just happens to be less noticeable, less offensive-looking, because it lacks the weird color shifts of the Canons.

Here's Barry's resolution test of GH1 vs. 7D

And by my eye the GH is better on four of the trumpets, and the 7D is better on only one of the trumpets (the vertical one), in both 1080p and 720p.

And if you don't agree, then please allow me to reword my initial post

Back to the dpreview NEX5 footage... I've never seen such severe aliasing and edge artifacts in my own GH1 footage of similar scenes. Have you seen it in your own footage? If so, then please post some raw GH1 footage of a similar scene.

From my standpoint, I would say that the amount of overall aliasing in the GH1 and 7D is pretty comparable; the GH1 having a bit less. However, it's obvious by looking at the charts that the type of aliasing, and the offensive purple/green contamination, is far more significant in the Canons. On the charts I've seen from the GH1, the Nikon, and the Pentax, none of them have that particular artifact.
