NEX-EA50UH and FCPX......please help.

I have a gig next weekend. I am shooting with two Nikon D7000's and a DVX100a. Im thinking of pulling the trigger on this EA50UH. I'm researching and find that FCPX does not
open mts files? I downloaded one and can not open it. I have the latest Lion update which says it is AVCD compatible. Any tips would be much appreciated.

FCPX will open the files just fine. There is NO conversion needed. Just import, click on the ad card and they will show up.
 
Have you tried importing the mts files or opening them?

Your post isn't clear.

In any case, use the card to import. I always write protect mine before mounting them on the desktop
 
Yes David, I found a .mts file online and tried to open it. No luck. I do not have the camera yet, trying to decide on purchasing it or some other brand. The videos I have found online look good. The chip should be similar to my d7000's since Sony provides the chips to Nikon. I'm looking for something my wife will be able to use auto focus and not struggle with the dslr issues. It will be on a tripod for her use.
 
Considered getting a VG20 or VG30??? it is exactly the same. And will reduce the impact on your wallet!

I own a EA50, but edit on Sony Vegas. And I love my camera, although I have now sold the zoom lens.
 
If you are having trouble now with .mts files, they will persist when you buy the new cam. I would suggest you try converting the files to ProRes first.
I would suggest downloading 5DtoRGB lite (It's in the Mac AppStore). It seems to be the most robust conversion software for NEX cameras and it just got updated and is much faster now.

These are the settings I use:
Output: ProRes 422 (HQ)
Framerate: Source
Decoding Matrix: 709
Luminance Range: Full Range
The rest of the default settings are fine.

I don't have any EA50 files, but I have some NEX-5N files if you want me to send you some?
 
James, thank you for the offer. I received my new NX5U and found out FCPX works fine with it. I have read the complete file structure must be intact. That must have been my problem. Thank you all for your replies.
