news about the F3?

I have a strong suspicion we'll see an F4 with built in SLOG and 50Mb/s 4:2:2 XDCAM recording come NAB. Would be a very easy update for Sony to do, and would make the camera considerably more broadcast friendly.

Is it too much to wish for built-in ProRes recording? :love4:

4:2:2 and 50Mbps will allow me to shoot almost everything I do now without the need for KiPro. I recently added a Canon XF to the arsenal and I can tell you, that 4:2:2/50Mbps combo is REALLY great!
As for the cheaper S-Log, what a brilliant posture by Sony. However as a purchaser at the BIG dollar, their consideration on their so-so, overpriced lenses doesn't excite me. Maybe a credit on a Canon PL? :love4:

To the F5 rumor, give me better over cranking, the upgraded codec at 4K and I'm in. Man, I am glad I cancelled my ScarletX order!!

wow. this seems to be harder than it should be. I am entering day two of trying to purchase S Log. called the support number, they pointed me to another number. THAT number took my info and said they would have to get back to me, cause they don't have any info on this...

DNxHD would be better.

OK... the cats out of the bag on S-Log. I knew it was coming but didn't know the price point.

I haven't heard anything about F5 and suspect that Timur's sardonic sense of humor might be at work here.

Ned

Sony posted it on twitter, and I think mentioned it at CES a couple months back.....

I just ordered it from the Sony Rep with a purchase order -- it is real.

who did you order from, someone in Denver? there must be a real disconnect in how this is supposed to go down, I am being told that "we will email you the appropriate forms once the parts have arrived" and that I am on "the list" but I can't actually purchase it. first question, what parts? this is a firmware upgrade, is it not? this is from the sony office in NJ.

I received the same info from NJ service center and was curious about the "parts" as well. Maybe their waiting for a appropriate version of the firmware on a card that will allow itself to be loaded on camera's and still be available for subsequent loads to other F3's. Kind of a unlocked master version lets say. Up until today s-log lived on a SxS card and could only be uploaded to one camera at a time.
