news about the F3?

This is just a guess, perhaps they are about to offer the S-log upgrade for free? Makes sense to me. I bet sales are down sharply ever since the c300 came to be and the Scarlet hit the streets.

Again, just a guess.
 
I'll weigh in with a guess just for fun. I think free S-log would make a lot of people very unhappy. (you know - the ones that have paid for it) I don't see that happening.

Here's my guess... Since the PMW-500 can record a 50 Mbps 422 signal to SxS, why can't the F3? A 50 Mbps 422 codec would really close the techno-gap between the F3 and the C300.

Here's to hoping that the big news will be both free and compatible with existing F3's!!!
 
Yea, I would guess it something that won't piss off it's current customers. 50 Mbps 422 sounds more realistic to me than free S-Log. Or possibly perhaps you can purchase S-Log without 4:4:4 for a cheaper price.
 
i say 50mbps 4:2:2 for free also.

So should be about the codec as XDCAMEX is involved

That would stop most of the off-camera prores dnxhd recorders, for me at least.

Yes finally a good price for S-Log but it says good to March, what do they have up their sleeves for NAB in April? Can we speculate on this forum?
 
I won't be buying a new camera for another couple years, so I think I will take the S Log discount and run!
 
I'll tell ya what, $900 slog is making me think seriously about a purchase from Red...

Sony, why couldn't you have done this two weeks ago?

I ordered my second camera yesterday with s-log. Have not paid yet, so I need to cancel that order!
They told me it was about one month to get the s-log. Its a software, I can´t see why it takes even a day? If they choose to put down the price they should do it at
once the news are out! Not for another month or two!
